Pause

As I enter prayer now;
I pause to be still;
to breathe slowly;
to re-centre my scattered senses upon the presence of God

Watchwords

Watchword for the week

Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

1 Corinthians 13:12

He causes us to remember his wonderful works. How gracious and merciful is our Lord!

Psalm 111:4

When we bless the cup at the Lord’s Table, aren’t we sharing in the blood of Christ? And when we break the bread, aren’t we sharing in the body of Christ?

1 Corinthians 10:16

Prayer

Renewing God, when we find ourselves at the table together in Christ’s name, may we be reminded not only of the sacredness of your self-giving love, but may we also be inspired to give of ourselves in care and service to others near to heart and hand. May Christ’s grace and mercy be that which we not only receive, but which we offer daily with glad heart and mind. Amen.

In your name Papa, Jesus and Spirit. Amen

Today’s Scripture Reading

The Lord is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way.

Today’s Meditation

You need to be generous to yourself in order to receive the love that surrounds you.

You can suffer from a desperate hunger to be loved.
You can search long years in lonely places, far outside yourself.
Yet the whole time, this love is but a few inches away from you.
It is at the edge of your soul, but you have been blind to its presence.

We must remain attentive in order to be able to receive.

John O’Donohue

When a great moment knocks on the door of your life,
it is often no louder than the beating of your heart,
and it is very easy to miss it. Boris Pasternak

Pray for Tajikistan

Father God, thank You for the courage and determination of Your church in Tajikistan. Continue to give them confidence when they are accused of wrongdoing. We pray that the authorities will stop raiding and restricting faith communities and that the country will find a better way for people of different faiths to live together in peace. Help believers from Muslim backgrounds to find fellowship with one another, Amen.
