We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
Hebrews 12:2
For the Lord loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly.
He will keep them safe forever, but the children of the wicked will die.
Psalm 37:28
“Well then,” he said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.”
Luke 20:25
God of justice and hope, while as Christians we are not to be “of this world,” we are still “in this world.” We pray that leaders of states and nations, legislatures and parliaments, will seek your face and work for the welfare of all citizens. We long for the day when the kingdoms of this world become the kingdom of our Lord, in which Christ shall reign forever and ever. Show us how our decisions and actions may help advance that goal. Amen.
