Watchwords

Watchword for the week

He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, "Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else."

Mark 9:35

Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper - it only leads to harm.

Psalm 37:8

In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches.

But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

James 3:5-6

Prayer

Shepherd of our soul, refresh and bless us. Jesus, preserver of our lives, help us guard our hearts and minds against evil. May our tongues be instruments of praise. Like you, Lord Jesus, may we seek to serve and not to be served. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
